that would be industries kaisers argentinas, aka ika, makers of the
'63 classic / '64 american hybrid 'torino' powered by the kaiser
ohc-230 'tornado' engine.  their general line was composed of ramblers
on the big end and renaults on the small end.  renault now owns them.

iirc '63 was the end for their own engines.  they used chevies for
the last 2-3 years before shutdown.  some execs bought out the avanti
line; they were made in their original s. bend plant well into the
'80s, when they went through a bunch o' takeovers and relocations.
kaiser bought the truck side of the carcass; it's currently known as
am general.  it carried mil contracts; i wonder if it could've been
a govt-mediated sweetheart deal?

studebaker the industrial giant survived, in name at least, as
studebaker-worthington, and made among other things locomotive
diesels.  i believe ge now owns that part.
