You might also want to consider going ahead and
putting the GM TBI fuel injection on the 2.5L.  You
can get one cheap out of a number of 80s GM cars.  If
I were resurrecting my Spirit again, I would consider
doing that.  You probably would not have the
electronic 2-bbl carb (E2SE Varijet) on your car in
Florida.  In 1980 that carb was only used in CA I
believe.  The non electronic 2SE version of the carb
is somewhat simpler and may not be so troublesome.
