I was actually close enough to a book to reach over and look this morning!
63 American two door sedan - 2472-2556 pounds (hard top was 2550)
82 Spirit hatchback - 2588-2666 pounds
So the American is 116-110 pounds lighter, plus the weight difference of ~140 pounds between the engines (196 ~540, 2.5L ~400). To be safe I think I'd use ~100 pounds as the weight difference in engines. So a 63 American with 2.5L should shed another 120 pounds with a 2.5L install.
The weights used are published factory shipping weights, which will vary some depending on options.

The American is actually LIGHTER than a Spirit. Just a few hundred pounds
(200-400) though. The old 196 weighs in at over 500 pounds, the 2.5L GM at least
100 pounds lighter. I don't recall the exact weights,
