Thanks to Brien and Andrew for trying to help me with my trans
adapter
problem. My engine is the original 1971 258 cu. in. six that came in
the car. It was bored .030 over for the Keith Black pistons, so now
it's a 262 cu. in. engine.

Sure thing !
Since you've found the adapter kit for the later 258, you've
found all the small bits needed once you have the adapter ring >
yes ?
A decent Automotive machine shop can develop a pattern off the
old bellhousing > then compare with the Bellhousing of choice>
sharpen the pencil &
CNC an adapter ring.
Maybe AA or Novacs' adapter ring is the right shape > get a blank ?
I'd go with the JEEP cherokee 2wd AW4 bellhousing & a Toyota
Supra Trans > use the '88 stand alone computer to run it.
The JEEP AW4 trans is made by AISIN as is the Toyota >
really nice transmission. The Supra version is 2wd.
You're really close but you're not done with the learning curve
on swaps > check http://www.naxja.org/forum/newfrontpage.php
and their for sale list of parts > for an '88 Trans / TCM /
Bellhousing / Trans etc. > parts are usually cheap there.
An update Supra 4sp Automatic behind a Turbo 258 is
something worth smiling about ;)
Brien.
