I wasn't serious! Well, maybe a little. While I was trying to fix the thing [the story is a condensed version it took a long time for me to get this computer running] Anyway, I wondered into Office Depot and they had put the Compaq that was powering their monitor display on sale for $324. down form $699 or so. Still not the best computer on the market, but I figured what the heck and bought it. It's a Pentium 4 2.93 GHZ with DVD burner and some nice features. They'd used it for less then three months to power their monitors. At least I was sure it was "burned in"!!! It works great, plus I found a $50 rebate online after I bought it and applied and they sent me the rebate! So I've got like $274 in it, talk about cost based consumerism! Quilty! I'm ashamed and will have to do penance by working on the Rambler some more! Besides I did fix the old emachine up for my son rather thne trash it! I only bought the Compaq because of the price and wanting a working computer at home while I fixed the emachine.
