Hi,
If your car has the original engine, the model number
for the engine will be on a flat area of the block on
the passenger side near the distributor. I believe
you will see three digits and then a letter "L" and
then two more digits. The letter L means it is a 232.
(I could be mistaken about the L, the letter could be
a J instead. One or the other means your engine is a
232.)
Also, if the engine looks like your 199 and it is the
original engine, then it is a 232, because the 199 was
not marketed until 1966 I believe.
