Cross Country = wagon. That's what they called 'em. So you can get
classy names like

1963 Rambler Classic 550 Cross Country

known by mere mortals as a '63 classic wag'.


I don't even mind that Volvo calls (or called) a recent station
wagon a CROSS COUNTRY in huge letters across the back. It's a nice
looking wagon; about the same size as the 63/64 Rambler (10, 80)
and about as rugged; polite, civilized, but rugged. Conservative
(as in restrained, and preserving tradition) but clean design,
just like the 63/64 Rambler 10's and 80's. You could park 'em side
by side and make a very pleasant comparison.
