A: Just grab a 4.0L Wrangler (2.5L is the same, so maybe even late 4.2L is 
also) or JGC 4.0L waterpump, pulley and fan. Eagles used 3.07 commonly (I 
have a non-vacuum front axle with that ratio for sale and the D35 rear from 
an XJ fits with minor mods for shocks with weld on aftermarket shock mounts) 
and people with XJs are practically throwing that ratio away! (I turned down 
7 free or near free in the past year alone!)
   You use the Eagle engine brackets and motor mounts (I suggest Energy 
Suspension mounts for CJs with 6 cyl and the GM universal trans mount at the 
back with minor mods) but need to relocate the knock sensor as it sits in 1 
of the Eagle OEM motor mount holes. (not a big deal)
   I'm using the AW4 (plenty strong for most apps if the ratio in the 
vehicle is low enough to match) with low gears and tall tires (still 
converts to slightly lower than the XJ's gearing so I have the power/economy 
I want)

That's because of the transmission designs. Five speeds use 3.07/3.08, AW4 
uses 3.55. The AW4 has a high efficiency torque converter that doesn't slip 
like most US make TCs, but doesn't multiply torque either (it's like 1.4:1 
multiplication, most US makes are closer to 3:1).

By the way, good call on the Wrangler/Grand Cherokee! They weren't around 
when I did my swap and I tend to forget about them. You can use the 
GC/Wrangler water pump and fan on the Cherokee/Comanche engine, but will 
need the pulley and MUST change the water pump. The hub has a wider bolt 
pattern than the Cherokee water pump. A flex fan might fit, but remember to 
get a REVERSE ROTATION fan. May have to redrill the fan nad make a spacer to 
use on the Cherokee water pump. I use an electric fan and bypassed the fan 

shaft on my Cherokee engine. Just takes a shorter serpentine belt.
