That's because of the transmission designs. Five speeds use 3.07/3.08, AW4 uses 3.55. The AW4 has a high efficiency torque converter that doesn't slip like most US make TCs, but doesn't multiply torque either (it's like 1.4:1 multiplication, most US makes are closer to 3:1).
By the way, good call on the Wrangler/Grand Cherokee! They weren't around when I did my swap and I tend to forget about them. You can use the GC/Wrangler water pump and fan on the Cherokee/Comanche engine, but will need the pulley and MUST change the water pump. The hub has a wider bolt pattern than the Cherokee water pump. A flex fan might fit, but remember to get a REVERSE ROTATION fan. May have to redrill the fan nad make a spacer to use on the Cherokee water pump. I use an electric fan and bypassed the fan shaft on my Cherokee engine. Just takes a shorter serpentine belt.
