It's probably a four speed + OD auto with split shifting. If it's fully
automatic there could be a gain in fuel efficiency by keeping the engine
operating in its peak power band more than fewer gears would. That's the
most likely scenario. Could be a smaller engine than normally would be
needed for the size car too.
