I think the gas-goes-bad thing is a bit overrated. I started a
fresh engine on two-year-old gasoline and it drove just fine.
Tank was sealed, had no water, about 1/4th tank. I ran it a bit,
filled it up and zero problems.
Oil I don't know. I imagine it would take many years of sitting to
gum up, if it's reasonably fresh. There's a hint in the excessive
"3000 miles or 3 months" thing -- maybe annual changes for
rarely-driven cars would be a good idea. Oil's cheaper than
engines (for now :-)
