oil pickup tube installer

I saw the oil pickup tube install tool on Evil bay and
have a question. I have always just poked the tube
into the pump and bolted her down, long and short
bolts. Am I missing something. Do I really need that
big city oil pickup tube installation tool or do I do
as I have done in the past. The pick up tube just
pulls out after removing the long bolt, and installs
doing the reverse......Russ
