" THe ol' 199 I6 in my rambler feels like it runs good, isn't noisy and there
" isn't any blowby but everytime I check the oil shes down a quart. I just
" got it a few weeks ago so I don't know the history..but I've been running it
" on the highway lately at about 65-70 mph. could it be the guides or valve
"
" seals etc? thanks

" A: What oil are you running? How long since a change? First thing I would do
" is change the oil and put in 15W40 Chevron Delo oil (Others have different
" preferences, but I found it slows consumption in most and keeps oil pressure
" up, plus it's one of the last ones to still have Zinc in it because it is
" diesel rated)
i'd also be strongly inclined to do a flush on the oil system once
too. several solvents have been recommended here, but i'll just
reiterate a plug for the one i've had success with, gunk brand motor
flush. drop a qt, warm the engine up, pour it in, idle for 15+
minutes, change oil and filter immediately.
