I have been known to do crazy things so bear with me. The 4.0 AMC/Jeep engine is easy to find these days and both my Eagles are beyond 133k on them. The thought is to replace the 258 with the 4.0 but use the 258 intake and run the Holley 470 avenger carb and HEI. The intake will bolt up as you can do the 4.0 head conversion on the 258 but you have to run the 4.0 exhaust manifold. The 4.0's have the front diff mounting tab required for the Eagle so this should work. I wonder if the cam will work as well with a carb as with the stock FI? I really want to keep this simple and cheap so I do not want to run the EFI. Any thoughts?
