A: Now there's an idea! Only prob is the 2WD axle is setup with about the
equivalent of FWD (mid drive) It's 2" narrower than a FSJ axle WMS to WMS
(wheel mounting surafce) I know this because I've been looking into a FSJ
axle swap into the Comanche I have. (Both ends. I like the Model 20 in these
too. Almost bullet proof. I've blown up 4 D44s and a D60 but no FSJ M20s
yet)

Check out a 2WD XJ front axle. It might need lengthening and the arm mounts
cut off, but otherwise should bolt right in. The Pacer front end isn't a
good idea unless you want the thing in the weeds. I've seen tow
installations on 50s trucks up close -- like in the shop being done. One guy
used rubber bushings between the frame and suspension, one welded directly
to the frame. Both were LOW! You might be better off with a late model
Diplomat/New Yorker (rear drive) torsion bar front end, or Chevy truck front
suspension. I doubt you want it in the weeds if you plan on much towing --
unless you air bag the rear. Another problem with the Pacer is front end
parts are getting harder to find -- especially unique items like the engine
mounts.
All in all sounds like you have quite a rig! I'd like to see some pics and
get a quick story on it for AIM. E-mail me if interested.
