I've gleaned this too from reading -- brute force overcomes the losses from roughness and bends. When pressure atmospheric, little stuff matters.

The ports are smoothed out, but there are rough casting spots, so
it wasn't just gouged out maximum.

you'll probably also want dished slugs with a low c/r, maybe 7:1.

But any idea what boost pressures would be? 40lbs/in? 50?
