A: My current Comanche is an '87 with the plug. It's possible the one you
got the motor from was "re-vinned" after it's first write off. (or it was a
stolen recovery. The whole dash unbolts along with the VIN and the underhood
firewall numbers and behind the steeringbox stamping are the only thing left
to ID the truck besides the other 3 "secret" stampings)

That's strange -- my engine came from an 87 model Comanche. Maybe the
Comanche used a different harness than the Cherokee? I have an auto trans
harness from an 87 or 88 Cherokee with the big plug. The reason for the plug
is easy enough to see -- made engine installation much easier.
