Hi, I own a restoration shop in Atlanta. I am doing a disc brake conversion
on a 70 Javelin. I am told by the customer that the parts came off a 74
Matador from a yard in Texas. It is a single piston Bendix system. I read
an article that seemed to say that the calipers should mount forward of the
spring tower in the 2 o clock position? Mine are mounted in the 10 o clock
position, and this seems like the only way to put them together.
If you have mounted them in the 2 o clock position in the past, do you move
the steel lines, and manufacture wheel stops to prevent over steering?
Any idea on where to get a picture or diagram of this disc set up finished
conversion, or factory drawing?
Problem # 2 is with mounting the power booster, the booster I have has a
different bolt pattern, about an inch wider, and an inch taller than the 4
bolt wholes that are there with the non-power master and pedal, and has a
3.5 inch pedal shaft verse the 6.5 inch shaft on the old unit. Do you know
if there is a booster out there that is an accurate fit, or do I need to
just modify the fire wall/pedal mount and make this work?
