Russ! Don't let it get you down.... it's the anti-Save A Gremlin-
Faction.......{juuuuuuuuust kidding folks}.
Go to www.strokers@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx and JOIN!
You are entering the area that they are all about.
Check the site for 'Dino' s homepage as he has
an outline of his build > you'll get all the skinny
as to what where and which parts.
I'll tell you now that you'd be ahead of the game
using a 96 or newer 4.0 as a starter > block
was upgraded in a number of areas with
thicker webbing etc. and they come with
main stud girdles from the Factory .
The crank nose is the difference. You'll find
the 'fix' on the site.
The early 258 cranks up to '79 have the 12
counterweights > the '81 + have either
6 or 8 or 10 counterweights.
Pistons are the question & you'll need to
read up on the options as 'Quench' on these
are critical.
There is a lot to these Stroker Engine Builds
so update your 'Specs' & enjoy the wealth
of Info this group has generated.
They'll give you total support on your Build
& answer any question you have - regardless -
by the next post > usually 12 to 24 hrs.
Welcome to Strokers Russ !

I have my 4.0 Jep engine tore down, ready to be
checked out. I have some questions maybe someone can
answer as I have never messed with these engines
before. I have a lot of 232/258 time behind me,
though.
First, the soft plugs seem to be 50 MM in size, is
this correct? I assumed they would be standard sizes,
but in comparing them I came up with 50MM.
This engine came out of a Jeep that must have been
rode hard and put away wet as every oil galley hole
was plugged with dirt. Maybe a mudder?? The crank was
in good shape and the engine still ran. What should I
look for. I have it stripped bare and will hot tank it
and measure the taper, bore, crank align, etc.
I plan to put a 258 bottom into it, any year
suggestions. The 4.0 is an '87. What should I do to
the bottom end?
Thanks all......Russ
