There is no trick -- you just pry them out as best you can and know you're likely to lose one or two. They are generic plastic fasteners -- any auto parts store should have something similar (check the HELP! section if there is one).
The gas pedal pivot is WELDED to the floor. There should be a wire clip that loops behind the pedal and into each side of the pivot about 3/8". Just pull the ends out. It may loop under the carpet behind the pedal.
