engine ID, please

I have an AMC engine sitting here ready to be cleaned
and put back together. Can anyone ID it for me.
On the side oppositr the dist/oil filter are the
numbers EF8933002665cD and down below that is 255 87.
Over on the oil filter side on a raised boss is
709M17.
Its got the dog leg heads so it isn't an older engine.
Also there are three three pipe thread holes just
above the oil pan on the left side, what are these
for. Thanks......Russ
