Might you be thinking of the Desoto Adventurer? It
was a beautiful concept car in '54. Here's a link to
some color and black and white shots of it :

Page won't load... but this car is definitely 1960's. It's a slant
six, and the pushbutton shifter is the same as a 1965 Valiant or
Dart.
It's got the Valiant crest logo thingie in "hood ornament" position.
I take it back -- it's very much like that car (1953).
(It's the stupidest www page -- every image file is GARGANTUAN, it
takes many minutes to load on my DSL line!)
Differences:
* horizontal/rectangular tail lights, with plain flat lens
* smaller wheels (14's?)
* different dash (from what I can tell), trapezoidal guages, Valiant shifter
* electric windows
It's not the 54. It's like a customized 53 (well, at least
approximately).
It does have the hump in the line over the rear wheels, but more
like a Firebird, integrated into the line, rather than a vestige
of old style pontoon fenders.
