4.0 vs 4.2 headers...different size? Can't swap?

I was at Cecil COunty, and bought a stainless steel
header, might fit a Gremlin, I thought, someone else
had bought one from the same guy, both used, he said
they would only fit a 4.0 head, he had a 6-cylinder
drag Gremlin. The center ports were spaced closer on
the 4.0 head? This header is awesome, the flange is
1/4" THICK. Nice lookin' 3-inta-2-inta-one design,
compact and clean. If it won't work on the 4.2 head, I
guess I"ll have to consider an upgrade down the road,
as this is one sweet piece of hardware. Only paid $10
for it ( the other guy paid $5 for his ). Worthwhile
investment, I think. Anyway, just wondered if it was
true the spacing on the 4.0 head was different than
the 4.2 exhaust ports. Thanks for any more info,
jerry Casper
