Transmission coolers, was Re: trans fluid in the radiator??

Exactly! Just get a heavy duty or high capacity cooler. The smallest ones are designed to augment the existing cooler. A medium size is the smallest you'd want to use exclusively. I've run like this for several years with a medium size cooler and even done some towing. No problems at all, and fluid still looks good (no burning).

Are you saying that you by-pass the radiator completely and only run it
through the air cooled trans cooler?

I agree. The radiator "cooler" is a joke.

Part of the reason why the little BW air-cooled transmissions work
so well is simply that the liquid-cooled ones aren't much better
off. Air-cooling sucks, but only slightly less than the factory
liquid cooling solution!

I did a fair amount of research on trans coolers, and determined
that the B&M cooler worked the best and was the best bargain,
about $50 total cost. It's about 6" x 11". I have one in my Hornet
(with A904).
