Been there n dun that 64' stuff and will NEVER again. (Except an AMC for myself!)
We bought our 16 year old a 1966 6 cyl Auto Mustang hardtop that had new paint and excellent interior for less than $4500. The previous owner said the motor was rebuilt but had no receipts. It seemed to run fine from the get-go but "stuff" just kept going wrong with it. I changed literally everything except the block & head over a year and a half AND then the torque converter let go. Needless to say we sold it and bought a 1997 Ford Escort 4 door. For $2900 and under 97k it was a steal. We have put brakes and tires on it in 1 1/2 years and thats it. He's much happier with AC and the pwr accessories and it is safer with airbags.
Juat my 2 cents worth.

With the 200 six it wouldn't be a bad first car, and the two doors weren't bad lookers. Now a four door... But I was thinking about the bigger Falcon based Comets. 1970 was the last year of the Falcon. But hey, you can throw come "Comet" emblems on just baout anything...
