Well, 1963 tubing is harder and/or thicker than newer stuff! If you're flaring a new piece of liine shouldn't be that much of a problem. I've found that most of the cheaper flaring tools are actually made for copper tubing, not steel. Big difference! Make sure the manufacturer states it's for brake lines. That means a $50-$100 tool instead of a $20-$40 tool.
