have you looked at the strokers group on yahoo?  they're primarily
interested in the 4.0 but know a lot about other amc sixes.

if you have a late 258 ['86/7-'90] the 4.0 head bolts right on.
earlier ones need attention to disparate water-jacket holes.  '81-5
use 7/16" head bolts but earlier and later use 1/2".
