Wow, thanks to everyone that replied. The flaring tool
I've been working with is K-D double barstock type.
Not cheapo, but old technology? I have noticed that
both sides of clamp are often uneven when I measure
stickout with double flare bit. I've made a real
effort to keep it equal. It is also possible that line
could be slipping a bit in barstock clamp. I will try
doing some of the flares in vice, the rest of line is
under vehicle. The thought ocurred to me I was using
too much torque on second stage of double flaring,
then flare could not get right "crush" to seat? that
was a longshot though.

Those rigid tools sure look..RIGID. If I can't make
barstock type tool work, I guess I will have to spend
big money. I will be needing 45 degree metric, metric
ISO bubble type as well as the SAE. Looked like those
kits ran around $400, but were hydraulic. Just have to
keep telling myself $$$$$$ kit will last for
life(hopefully)

but for now will give the K-D another try.
