Check on prices for a rebuilt one trading yours as a core. You need special tools to take the thing apart, and I don't think you can easily get the parts either. The last time I had to have a compressor replaced there was less than $100 difference -- I think it was $65 less for a rebuilt rather than new, and the new one had a one year warranty, rebuilt 90 days. $235 or $300??? Not enough difference for a rebuilt one unless hurting for the money, and if I'm hurting for $65 I can do without AC!!
