As near as I can remember it was an SR4. But it may have been the slighty smaller version that looked like and SR4, I forget what the number designation is of it.
I think I had to stick with output shaft from the Gremlin. I can't remember wether I used the Gremlin input or the Mustangs. I just remembered it all worked out. Since the mustang trans was a known good trans, I'm not even sure I put new brass in it. I think I would if I was doing it for me, but I'm not sure I didn't just use the best looking stuff from both trans and put it together. Even in the 80's labor rate wos $40+ and hour and it was a Gremlin and the guy was jsut trying to keep it on the road and I didn't want to lose a "customer pay" Job. Sure beat warranty work!!!
