And I'm confused. It sounds to me that you are asking about the PARKING BRAKE RELEASE, but the various responses sound like they are talking about the HOOD RELEASE CABLE. Let me clear up a few things. The PARKING BRAKE RELEASE handle does not attach directly to the cable, at all. Your parking brake is activated by stepping down on the park brake pedal. The pedal pivots and pulls on the cable. There is a ratchett that engages the pedal assembly and prevents the cable from being released. The release handle merely pulls a pawl to release the ratchett and thus the cable. The entire park brake assembly removes as a unit from the dash. There are two studs that stick thru the firewall into the left front wheel well, and there is a bolt that attaches at the front (near the handle) to the bottom of the dash. The park brake cable attaches to the assembly with a clevis pin. Once you look at it, it's pretty self-evident. Even ob Americans, the handle attaches with a drift pin to the "Umbrella handle" shaft. The park brake cable attaches thru a "Ball & socket" setup to the end of the shaft under the dash. But it comes apart pretty easy. Now, if you are actually talking about the HOOD RELEASE, American Parts Depot (Doug Noel) sells a replacement cable & handle to replace the broken cable or handle.
