Sounds like you've either got a big vacuum leak somewhere, or else the carb
has developed an issue.
I'd look around to see if a vacuum hose has popped off somewhere--that's
probably the most likely issue, since you say the problem developed somewhat
quickly.
And, make sure you have the idle speed properly set. A too-low idle can also
cause stalling.

Just confirmed the fol prob with my daughters car and can't find anything in
the TSM. She said the problem started a couple of days ago. This is a 258,
auto with BBD carb and all pollution equip intact.
-car starts right up and will idle in park and neutral just fine.
-Putting the car in drive results in a stall.
-It doesn't happen immediately but it is pretty much w/o warning (ie I
started the car, put it in D with brake on and it was fine for anywhere from
3-10 sec and would just quit).
-It will also stall out coasting up to a stop sign or light -Engine starts
right up after stalling -If it's shifted immediately into D from N and gas
applied it will not stall out
-Runs and shifts fine in normal traffic
Suggestions?
Thanks.
Marty
