You've got the right idea Jim! On my first Classic wagon I kept the Jeep
4.0L AC compressor and attached it to a universal type under dash unit
inside the car. Required custom hoses though. Southern Air and Vintage Air
both have the universal evaporator units. Just get the compressor bracket
from any AMC six (pre 74 -- bracket locations changed in 74!). You can buy
an adapter for a Sanden compressor (originals were the big York piston
compressors -- look like 3.5 hp BS lawn mower engines, only aluminum!). Just
make sure you get a compressor with a V belt pulley.
