Re: in the clutches of umm no clutch

" From: Tom Jennings <tomj@xxxxxxx>
"
"
" I've been having no luck finding a 10" clutch. I've got a 1982 258
" six, a T150 trans. The driven shaft is 1-1/16" diam, 10 splines.
" There are plenty of 9" - 9.5" clutches for this combo, but no 10"
" clutches listed. The motor has a hot cam, claimed 275hp, probably
" closer to 250 to 225. The bigger clutch seems like a good idea,
" though probably not required. Street car, not racing.

perfection hytest has a b&b type c1647 and diaphragm type c1897 10"
listed to cover most of the '70s. their disc rcf448 fits t96-t14 but
i didn't bother to note the t150 part. i'd be surprised if it didn't
cross to a ford part though.

" There's rumors of Ford application parts, but unless someone can
" vouch for it having *done it* personally, I'm sticking with
" AMC-listed parts.
"
" I don't have an old 10" to match up. I don't have access to enough
" books to do better cross-listing, and though stores have been
" helpful, nothing comes up without knowing what to look for.

have you tried 304 and/or 360 listings? iirc both were used with
t150s and probably the same bell as the sixes.

i do know the t150 is a ford tranny and even in the amc app uses a
ford throwout bearing - '60s / early '70s style iirc. also, on the
'72-up sixes you have room for a 10.5" clutch. they normally share
the 10" bolt pattern.

no, i haven't done it myself.
