" Great info, andrew. I have to get new tires for my 75pacer X, originally came with goodyear dr78-14 RWL tires, polysteel I think. It could also have had the dr70-14. I have been running regular whitewall 195-75-14. Want to get it back to stock. I was told the replacment tire would be a 205-70-14, though it sounds big to me. any ideas for easier cleaning/polishing the cast aluminum wheels/volcano caps- they are grimy and dungy and dull, I have tried the usual hand polishing but with 4 to do, might take into the next decade. anyway, here are some web sites I have saved for tire size info, hope it helps anyone.
" regards, AMC ken/boston.
those two sizes are pretty much the same --
# tire 195/75r14 205/70r14
Specification Sidewall Radius Diameter Circumference Revs/Mile Difference
195/75-14 5.8in 12.8in 25.5in 80.2in 790 0.0%
205/70-14 5.6in 12.6in 25.3in 79.5in 797 -0.8%
i've run 205/70s on my '68 american for years now. they go fine on 6"
wide rims, which yours should be.
i don't know anything about the care and/or feeding of alloy wheels.
