Subject: 200R selection
My suggestion on the 200 over the 700 is based on
several write-ups in various cookie-cutter car mags.
The later model 200s are prefered over the 700 because
of the lighter rotating mass and gear spacing. Several
of the Chevy mags have done a build up of these LATER
YEAR trannies, and I think it is Chevy
High-Performance in the last edition who did the most
recent.
They suggest replacing several of the internal
bearings and the front pump, but they say in a light
body (TF drivers know what I mean) the 200 will out
perform the 700. Also they say it is half as expensive
and more common. Not sure what years to look for, I
have never run a GM tranny except for the old PGs and 400s.....Russ
