I believe it's one of the mail servers adding it to warn potential
readers of inconsistencies in the invisible mail header.

The most common reason these days is crappy ISPs that don't
configure their mail server right. The FORGED warning is because a
symptom of cracker type spammers is "hijacking" of mail servers,
which produces the same side effect, which is that a mail server
produced inconsistent identification information.

(Forward DNS name doesn't match the reverse DNS name.)
