V8 Engine Block Casting Codes?

Hey Guys & Gals,
I know, this comes up all the time, but is there a reliable list of V8
engine block
casting codes online? I've been talking with a friend over the last few
days and a lot of the info we've found seems to be 'all over the map'. A few
sources list '448' numbers which i 'think' are part numbers not casting
codes. BUT if anyone does have a V8 with a 448 casting number, i'd be
interested to know. Anyway, any comments would be appreciated.
