A: I have a beautiful day off here in the Pacific Northwest (Seattle) and
I've been working out in my yard in short sleeved shirt trying to clean and
organize all my excess parts for an upcoming swap meet (probably for naught
as I doubt I will get the weekend off I need but there are more later this
summer). I'll be loading up an '80 4.2L (last of the tin valve cover motors)
that has a rod out the side (from an '80 Cherokee full size) in a few
minutes and was wondering if anyone could use the head? (It'll replace '81
to '86 and maybe later, but those had aluminum covers) The shape of the head
changed after this year which will not allow the plastic cover to fit. I
also pulled all the Vee belt accessories off it to sell (PS pump and
brackets with steering box, Delco alternator bracket for non-AC. I have the
AC one around somewhere too from an Eagle I parted )
I have a couple '91 4.0L HO blocks for cores (ran, but had low oil
pressure/compression, and I put the HO heads on other projects) $25 each,
and they even have some minor accessories left (AC mount and idler) I have
an '88 non-HO 4.0L head I pulled off my Comanche $25 (head gasket was
starting to leak, so I swapped heads for less down time)
I have decided to put the 727 from the '80 FSJ into my '73 J4000 along
with a Chev NP208 (as soon as I can afford the Tcase rebuild kit and
driveshafts for the swap)

Anybody but a few of us working on our cars? After collecting/repairing and
making new interior parts for my new Hornet for the last year it is finally
in the shop for a final dissassembly and parts painting before starting to
go back together in the next few weeks. Parts have come from people here,
local friends, Ct. AMO swap meets over the years, the people at Bart's group
Badd A$$ Gremlins and from people I was steered to that were selling parts
on eBay, thanks everyone. Other parts came from A.J. and Kennedy. Finally
the 500$ really clean car body wise with many mechanical problems is a nice
driver after spending 4,500$ repairing them and around 2,000$ for a new
interior is almost done. It will be a nice driver. The car has parts in it
from N.Y., N.J. Texas, Alabama, Ct., California, Penn. Florida, Mass, N.C.,
and Canada. I can't wait to finish the interior so I can start working on my
other Hornet in the spring, that one I bought new 31 years ago the 12th of
this month.
