Yes the 6 cross member will not work with a V-8.  I have a 74 my son is 
redoing now, and we have to change out the cross member.  Some say the front 
springs need to be changed, they look the some but we have two parts cars 
with V-8s so we changed them also.  The radiator is smaller also, we have 
found everything  else the same, using the 904 that the six went to.......
