Perhaps you guys are right and my Craftsman torque wrenches do NOT have a
warranty. They are the simple torque beam with pointer type. I always
save the papers that came with everything in a filing cabinet but I can't
find my torque wrench papers. I bought them when I was a teenager and I am
only fifty one years old. I wonder what happened.

Maybe I'm wrong, I haven't bought Craftsman in a while, but, aren't Craftsman hand tools guaranteed for life?

Only once did I have trouble returning a pair of Craftsman needle nose. I was working as an electrician's helper and was told "to cut the blue wire" so I did. Turned out it was hot and I got a mild zap. I found a very small nick in the insulating on the handle. Craftsman advertised they had a satisfaction guarantee, replaced for any reason. The dip, and that is a compliment, said "You're not supposed to cut live wires." I said "DUH! I didn't know it was hot, or I would not have cut it."

Anyway, long story short, because the pliers functioned and had no visible signs of damage, they refused to honor their warranty. Even though it was a small thing, I have never bought a craftsman tool since. This was around 1987. And yes I did go all the way to the store manager.

PS, I do still own a craftsman torque wrench from the same era, the dial in type, and to my knowledge, it's still accurate.
