This is getting stale, but my Craftsman torque wrench clearly says it does
not have the replacement guarantee. The literature mentions that there are
two repair kits available for it (ratchet and something else). Otherwise
take it back to Sears for service. It also says that if left set above a
50% setting, reset it to less than 25% for a few hours before using it. Set
it to less than 25% for storage. I store mine at zero.
Also, there are dozens if not hundreds of places in the U.S. who can
recalibrate torque wrenches. Do a google search or call your nearest
airport maintenance shop. Aviation mechanics must get their torque wrenches
recalibrated periodically if they work in a certified shop.
Auto restorer magazine recently featured letter from a guy who built a
hydraulic torque wrench calibration device. He provided further info in the
most recent edition. It was hydraulic so it was foolproof if built
correctly. Of course you couldn't change the settings on your wrench to
make corrections, but you could note the differences between the settings
the calibration device and make notes accordingly.
