It's an odd system, and the oly reason I can think for using such
a thing is that the hole chosen in the firewall was too small for
the hose needed... I could look at mine to see where it is placed,
but be warned my car has so many holes drilled in it, and I've had
it so long (17 years) I don't honestly recall what was where when
I got it.

YOu could trivially simulate it with a simple piece of white
holey plastic tubing. It wouldn't be correct, but it would allow
correct retrofit later, and would certainly look more correct than
the hose through the hole.

I think hardware store white nylon tubing, a 3" section of it,

would do.
