Gwen I jsut drill a hole only about the same outside diameter of the hose. It's a bit tough to push the hose through (use a little soap or silicone on the hose), but it works fine. Just make sure there is a bit of slack in the hose and vibration won't cut it. If a  grommet has the right inside diameter you can drill a large hole and use a grommet, of course.
