If it were me, I'd want them crated. They're very flimsy off the car. You should be able to come close measuring yours and adding a couple of inches to make up for packing materials. I can say that you can stack a pair of them in not much thicker of a pile than one separately (maybe 4 - 5 inches taller tops).
