This is anecdotal but I've had good luck (so far) with
Greyhound package express. I plan to use them again
when necessary.  I've shipped a Gremlin door and a
Rambler trunk lid as well as a set of Spirit rear
window louvers.  The louvers were very fragile and I
was very concerned but they would have been very
expensive to ship via UPS due to size.  I made a crate
for them and crossed my fingers when I left them at
the Greyhound terminal.  No complaints from the buyer.

Oversize item rates are reasonable with FEDEX ground
too, and I have used them recently to ship an airplane
propeller box.
