Meanwhile, on the other Little Car project...

A mini update, if you will...
I finally have a radiator hose in shipping, and it should be arriving by
Friday, thanks to Jeff Kennedy. I've also got a line on a set of date
coded tower clamps for the radiator hoses. So finally the radiator
search is on the positive side.
The bumpers from Joe might get picked up today, or if not, then Friday.
I sense an upcoming weekend project.
But while I wait on the arrival of hoses and bumpers, I'm back to the
eternal conundrum that is the windshield washer.
I was recently lucky enough to score, off eBay, a partial NOS windshield
washer system. No foot pedal (which means no foot pedal pad, the only
part I seem to be missing), and no hoses (I've an abundance of these),
but a new washer bag (I've got a spare as well), a new check valve, new
hardware, a completely non-corroded sprayer and (ta da!) an instruction
sheet.
One catch, though. The instructions seem to be for, or somewhere between
1965 and 1967, as it references the Marlin. It also tells me how to
remove the plastic hole cover to put the hose through the firewall. Only
trouble? There is no plastic hole cover, nor any hole. This must be an
enhancement from between model years.
Now in earlier information, gleaned from a parts book, it shows what I
would assume was a curved metal connector to go through the firewall, but
(a) I don't have that connector, and (b) it is unclear where this is
going through in that image.
So now I get to ask more questions. Oh, goody!
1. do I need to carve another hole into the firewall, or can this be
routed through the big, handy opening that all the wires go through?
Would this be a problem?
2. No-one would happen to have one of those metal connectors sitting
around, no?
Cheers,
Gwen Smith
