Re: Last chance..67 American parts are GOING!

Joe,
It's not that the parts are worthless, it's just that you can't sell much of anything online unless you post it on ebay. I am experiencing the same thing with a lot of my parts. I have a decent 73 AMX (original Z-code, 401, 4 speed with air) that is pretty much complete except for drive train and front bumper and has very little rust (other than surface rust), that I can't sell to anyone on any AMC site for $650 but I can sell an extra used TicTocTach on ebay for $285 and a 4 spd shift overlay (both of which this car has) for $259. If I part it out I can probably sell the really nice grill (screen and inner grill) for $400+ on ebay. Every time I make a statement like that I get 10 or 15 emails from forum users asking how much I want for the grill assy. Well, I am sorry but if do sell it separate, I won't offer anyone on any of the AMC forums the grill or screen. I will post it on ebay first because I have already offered the entire car to forum users for little more than wha!
t those parts will sell for on ebay. I ranted about this same issue on one of the other AMC sites and got the third degree for it. I don't know what the users expect from people that are trying to sell parts. Are they hoping that they can get a better deal on the price? I offer all of my parts on all of the AMC forums for what I would ask in person, at a show. Normally I don't mind taking offers but if I sell it online, I have the extra work of packing and shipping the part. Not to mention that many of the same parts are or have been already posted on ebay and sold for double or triple what I am asking for mine. What really gets me is all of the people that complain about the prices that things sell of on ebay. A great way to help combat that is to buy the parts you want on any one of the AMC classifieds sites and or post a want ad for that part you are looking for there. Like you, I think my parts are fairly priced. So why can you sell parts on ebay for double what you as!
k for them on one of the AMC forums when no one will buy them off the
forum? A friend of mine told me something that has stuck in my head like a hatchet. He said that he buys off ebay because it is easy. If the part is posted, it is right there in front of you, your search for that part is completed if you are willing to spend a little extra money. He said that he doesn't mind over spending on some of the parts he buys because if he wins, he knows his search is complete, no more looking for that part, he'll have it within a week. Has this become the mentality of the majority of internet users? I guess there is nothing wrong with it if you have the money.
