SELLING PAIR OF '78 CONCORDS IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA

To make room for the '75 Sportabout I just bought, I?m now seriously thinking of giving up the ?78 Concord Hatchback V8 I bought in Texas in the Spring of ?03, which I have no time for. It runs but is rusty but I have a non-op 258 ?78 Concord that goes with it which has solid front fenders and doors with far less rust than the hatchback. The hatchback has no title so the two have to go as a pair as it was my plan to build one good car out of the two, using the doors and dash crash pad from the 259 car on the hatchback. Since both are brown, and so old, I can't imagine this being a serious issue. The 258 car has a valid CA registration and is currently under a PNO (planned non-operation) certificate here in California. All this is a grey area I'm sure but nothing that can't be overcome.

In spite of the rust, I believe that the V8 hatchback is worth saving; only 2,572 non-AMX hatchbacks were built that year and with an average build rate of 5% with the V8, this is a rare car and would serve as a great basis for a Pro Street-type car (my original intent), especially with the available parts car as part of the package. And the package is $750 OBO, with the buyer responsible for towing away the pair. If the ultimate buyer's intent is to buy the pair to part them out, then I would negotiate the price in order to end up with the front disc brakes out of at least one of the cars, which I need for my collection of three '64-'69 Americans and Rogues, all equipped with drum brakes. I can even consider working with the buyer to collaborate on the parting out process so long as the cars are taken from my home...the reason I'm even considering giving up the cars is that I need the space.

This is a great opportunity for someone more mechanically inclined than I, with space to store these cars, either to rebuild them or to part them out. I hate to see that, especially on the V8 hatchback, but if they keep more AMCs on the road, then that's a fair trade off.

If you are interested in the pair (I will only sell them as a pair), please contact me off-list at autotronic@xxxxxxx, my primary E-mail address and I will give you my phone number. I'm especially motivated to get this done this week as I pick up the '75 Hornet next Monday and need the space.

Thanks for reading this and hope someone here can take advantage of this opportunity.
