  The federal money was $500,000 (back when the Transportation Museum was
proposed the state had already committed $1-million!) but according to
the paper the city has committed $14.8 million, which is a heck of a lot
more than the $500,000 federal grant! So I don't think it is the federal
money. You say the Civil War is of national historic interest. I would
like to see a national poll on this. Heck, a lot of the present
generation knows little about  WW11, much less the Civil War or cares
about them, but transportation is still a big part of present day life,
not the Civil War, WW1, WW11, etc.

I do agree with you about the possibility of an old K-Mart store or any
other old, large store now closed and just sitting would be great
possibilities for a AMC/Rambler/Nash museum start, but it seems like our
local government wants new, Like the present Kenosha Museum on the
waterfront.
